Our weekly small groups, known as ‘Cells”, each of about a dozen or so people, are held in people’s homes throughout the district. The common aim is to help and encourage one another as we seek to follow Jesus.

Pastoral Contact Team
At Dereham Baptist Church, Cell Groups are the primary place where pastoral care takes place. However it is not possible for everyone to be part of a Cell Group and a system of Pastoral Contacts operates. Each person who serves in this way has a short list of people with whom they are pleased to maintain contact. People have been appointed to oversee this group and be the first point of contact in an emergency: Trevor & Irene, Mark & Clare and Barbara Y.

Prayer Ministry Team
During our services there are occasions when it is appropriate to respond to what God is doing by receiving prayer. For this purpose we have a trained group of people who make up the Prayer Ministry Team who are available to serve us in this way.

Celebration of Life
Held in the Church Hall at various times throughout the year.
This is the title given to an event held on a Sunday afternoon, usually once a quarter, especially for those who are ‘60 years young or over’. Afternoon tea is provided for about 50 people, all seated at tables. A speaker is arranged and also musical items, including some well known hymns. This is another of those occasions looked forward to by many of our senior citizens.

Dereham Churches Together
Once a quarter, usually on the first Tuesday in the month (March, June, September and December) people from each of the churches in Dereham meet together for an evening of Praise, Prayer and Fellowship. Each of the churches take their turn to host the evening on their own premises. A warm and responsive atmosphere is always experienced, reflecting a genuine interest in what is going on in each of the church fellowships represented. We believe it is important to make time for each other in this way and express our unity in the body of Christ. Jesus prayed to the Father: “May they (we) be brought to complete unity, to let the world know that You sent me and have loved them . . .”

Prayer for Revival & Mission
As Christians we do, in fact, experience answer to prayer, whether it be direct or indirect, immediate or deferred. Jesus said “How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him”. All that we really need is God and prayer brings us more of His fulness.
- Portuguese Speaking Church in Open Prayer – Tuesday evenings, 7.00pm.
- ‘Break Out’ Prayer for Revival – Sundays, once a month, at 6.30pm.
- Communion & Prayer for Mission – Sundays, once a month, at 6.30pm.
Special Prayer Events are also arranged periodically.
At the monthly prayer gathering for mission, update reports are presented to help focus prayer on current needs and news for thanksgiving.
