Consider Him this Thursday

Hello Wonderful People,

How much do I think about Jesus in my day? Maybe more than a lot of people simply because of my role in church life, but does my mind still ponder on him at other times? There’s a phrase at the beginning of Hebrews 12 which has been playing on my mind a lot recently. It is this: “Consider him…” I haven’t done the talk about this little phrase today but I was stirred to the extent that I decided to look up the wider meaning of the Greek word used for ‘consider’. I found out that it means, to think over, consider fully, ponder – reckoning from “premise to conclusion” – especially by repeated (nuanced) reflection that advance up the “levels of truth.” Wow! So it becomes about repeatedly reflecting on the wholeness (beginning to end) of Jesus so that we understand more truth about him. “Consider him…” Well, I’m not sure where you are in your day but why not take a pause, have a cuppa and while you are drinking it (if you are able) consider Jesus in that moment.

Today’s talk is not too different from the above ponderings. It is based around the first few verses of 1John 3 and focusses our attention on seeing how lavish God’s love is for us. It is about having our eyes open to better understand this love. Today’s talk can be found by CLICKING HERE

There are still some tables left (not many) for the 9am family service and some seats for the 10.45 if you’d like to book in (see green box below)

Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

Love & Blessings,

Dave
