Greetings from my broom-cupboard office.
On Sunday, I intended to read out Psalm 113 as a start to our service but...well...it didn't happen. So here it is for you now:
1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. 2 Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and for evermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
4 The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, 6 who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; 8 he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people. 9 He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children.
Praise the Lord.
I hope this email finds you well. September is coming up soon, COVID is still present and real, many church activities will aim to be restarted and the world we live in is 'different'. What changes have you decided to make? Many have chosen to stop doing things to make life less 'busy', some have learnt new things...but what about you? We'd love to hear about positive changes you have made as a result of this pandemic...
Today's message is about how the disciples were sent out by Jesus and then returned to him, telling him of all that they did. Jesus saw that they needed rest and offered them a 'solitary place'...but it didn't end up as planned. Thing is, what is God saying to you and me through these passages? Before I sign off, I just want to publicly thank those who offered to help with Kids Church this coming term after my request on Sunday. You really blessed me by stepping forward - Thank you.
Much love and Blessings,
Dave
