Jesus is alive!

Happy Easter everyone!

It’s that special and significant day when we celebrate that death has been defeated and Jesus is alive! To do this together today, we are delighted to be able to have a live service in our building, which will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel. If you are not signed up to come along today, then you can access the livestream by CLICKING HERE. The service will include communion, so if you are watching from home, you might want to prepare some bread and drink in advance.

It was great to see so many come along to the building on Good Friday, to take the opportunity to remember and give thanks to Jesus, and also to remember and light a candle for loved ones they have lost. There was a wonderful calming atmosphere inside, and although people came and went at different points, it really did feel like a corporate act of thanksgiving. Thank you to all of you who engaged with it.

A few quick notices:

There will be no Zoom Coffee and Chat today, and the Mission Prayer meeting will be next Sunday.

Also, we will be back to a livestream next Sunday, but we are looking at how and when we might be able to have more live services as we go forward.

A couple of final things: As DBC is one of Roy Searle’s partner churches, he has sent us a short, encouraging message for Easter, and you can watch that by clicking here.

Now that we have made it past the first waypoint on the government’s COVID roadmap, we are allowed to gather outside in groups of no more than six, or two households. So, to take advantage of this, we are organising an Open Gardens event on the weekend of 16th-18th April. Do you have an outside space in which you’d be happy to host a few others from DBC? Would you like to join with others in their garden for a bit of real, live, in-person fellowship? If so, look out for news on how you can get involved, coming soon!

‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:55-58
