Today is the first Sunday in advent. Our friends across the road from us in Middlemarch Rd put up their outdoor decorations today and, as I type this on Saturday evening, I can see the flashing and twinkling through my office window. It can seem like Christmas is something that comes and goes like a flash or twinkle in the middle of winter but to us it holds something rather precious - the coming of Jesus in the flesh. This is history-changing and world-shaking. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God (1John 4:2)
Roy Searle will be preaching at our 10.30 service using some material from our Advent book, The Incredible Journey. We no longer have any copies of the book available but you will still be able to enjoy the sermon if you haven't read it.
We will be taking communion together as part of the service. Youth and children's work is also provided.
This evening from 5.30, we have our prayer time for Mission partners. We start with a cuppa and a chat, to begin praying by 6pm. All are welcome to join in with this.
May you know the love and warmth of Christ this chilly day.
Rich Blessings,
Dave
