Remembrance Sunday 2021

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them. From "For the Fallen" by Laurence Binyon

Today is our Remembrance Day service for which we have Roy Searle as guest preacher. Please note that the service is an hour earlier than usual at 9.30am. This is so that we can join members of our community in the town centre for the two minute silence at 11am. There will therefore be no refreshments served this morning.

Then, this afternoon at 3pm, we have a Church Members Meeting, which is open to all members of DBC. As part of this meeting, we will be voting to accept five people into membership. If you'd like to know more about coming into membership at DBC, then please speak to Nigel, Dave or one of our Leadership Team.

From Monday to Wednesday this coming week, I am at High Leigh Conference Centre in Hoddesdon as part of the Baptist Larger Churches Network. The conference is on the theme of discipleship and this is a great opportunity to meet with other leaders and learn from specialists in the subject. Being able to attend this reminds me how blessed I am to serve in a church that is keen to invest in its ministers. Thank you.

Finally, thank you to Richard Cracknell for this week's shared prayer points, which are foccussed on youth, children and families. You can engage with them byCLICKING HERE.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
