Sunday 1st October 2023

"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.10 Then anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar, and it will be most holy. Exodus 40:9-10

The above passage may seem a bit odd as an opener to today's email but it really acts as an introduction to the 10.30 service in which we will be looking at 'oil' as our next symbol of the Holy Spirit. And, if this is the case, then it begins to transform how we read the above verses and how we think about this idea of sanctification by the Spirit...but more of that in the service. It will be recorded but also it will be fantastic to see you there, if you are able to join with us in the DBC building.

At the end of the service we will need to transform the main hall into a place where families can have their lunch together for the 'Families Lunch'. Therefore help moving some of the chairs and setting up tables in there would be much appreciated.

By way of an update to the healing of my head. I had an MRI scan and it has come back as 'normal'. Praise Jesus.

This evening we have our Mission Partners prayer gathering from 5.30 (for a cuppa / biscuit) with the aim to begin praying at 6pm. This is where we have the opportunity to pray for those connected to us who are serving the Lord overseas in a wide range of ministries.

Beckie and I will be on annual leave from tomorrow for almost 2 weeks.

May the Spirit of God be liberally poured out on you this day,

Love and Blessings,

Dave
